1. Introduction
This policy explains how Ad Cleanser handles information when you use the browser extension, this website, and related support services. It also explains the choices and rights that may apply to you.
Ad Cleanser does not require an account and does not process payments.
2. Information stored in your browser
The extension stores settings in your browser so its features work. This local information may include:
- Full site and exact page allowlists.
- Toolbar preferences, including automatic refresh and appearance.
- New tab choices, shortcut tiles, visible sections, and appearance.
- Basic installation state and service identifiers used to keep events consistent.
Local browser information stays in that browser profile unless a feature described below sends a related signal to the Ad Cleanser service or an outside service.
3. Information our services receive
Technical and service events
Ad Cleanser may receive a service identifier, session identifier, extension identity, browser name, browser release information, country code, install source, event name, and event time. Events may describe installation, active use, service health, search choice, or whether a search occurred.
Page visit signals
The extension may send the full page address and referring page address with a service identifier to the Ad Cleanser visit service. This helps measure use and diagnose whether the extension is active on a page. The signal does not include the text you type into page forms or the full page content.
Attribution information
Campaign, partner, offer, and click identifiers may be received when they are present in an install or website address. These values help connect an install with its source.
Contact information
If you contact support, we receive the name, email address, message, and any other information you choose to include. The website contact form is delivered through FormSubmit.
Website visits
The Home, Thanks, and Uninstalled pages load an Ad Cleanser measurement script. It may receive basic technical visit and attribution information, such as the page visited, browser details, referring address, and campaign values.
4. How information is used
We use information to provide extension features, keep settings working, measure installs and active use, understand feature choices, diagnose service problems, prevent misuse, improve the product, answer support requests, and meet legal duties.
Where the GDPR applies, processing may rely on providing the requested service, legitimate interests in maintaining and improving the service, consent where requested, and compliance with law.
5. Cookies and similar storage
Ad Cleanser may use an attribution cookie named _userInfo on the adcleanser.com domain. It can hold a service identifier and install attribution values so related events can be connected. The extension also uses browser storage for the local preferences described above.
You can clear website data through Firefox settings. Removing the extension clears its local extension storage from that browser profile.
6. News feeds, search, and shortcut destinations
The new tab may request public story feeds from publishers such as The Guardian, The Conversation, and TechCrunch. Those requests are made to the publisher or its feed service and may reveal normal network information such as your IP address and browser details to that provider.
Searches are sent to the selected search provider. Firefox may ask whether you want to use the extension search provider, and you can keep your current browser choice.
Shortcut tiles can open outside sites. Some default shortcut addresses may include affiliate or campaign identifiers. The destination handles any visit or purchase under its own policy. Ad Cleanser does not receive your payment card details.
7. How information is disclosed
Information may be disclosed to service providers that help run the website, event services, support delivery, and public content feeds. It may also be disclosed when required by law, to protect users or the service, or as part of a business transfer where permitted.
We do not sell personal information for money. We do not share personal information for cross context behavioral advertising.
8. Retention
Local preferences remain in the browser until you remove them, clear browser data, or uninstall the extension. Service and support information is kept only as long as reasonably needed for the uses described here, security, legal duties, and dispute handling. Retention can vary by record type.
9. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical steps intended to protect information. No internet service can promise complete security, so please avoid sending sensitive information through support messages.
10. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to know what personal information is handled, access it, correct it, delete it, restrict processing, receive portable data, object to certain processing, withdraw consent, and complain to a data protection authority. Some rights have legal limits.
People in the European Economic Area and United Kingdom may use the rights to information, access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, objection, and review of certain automated decisions. Official guidance is available from the European Commission.
California residents may have rights to know, delete, correct, opt out of sale or sharing, limit certain uses of sensitive information, and receive equal service after exercising a privacy right. Official guidance is available from the California Attorney General.
To make a request, email support@adcleanser.com. We may need enough information to confirm the request relates to you. You may also use an authorized agent where the law allows it.
11. International processing
Information may be processed in the United States or other places where service providers operate. Where required, appropriate safeguards are used for transfers across borders.
12. Children
Ad Cleanser is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13. If you believe a child provided information, contact us so we can review and remove it where required.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the product, service providers, or legal duties change. The updated date at the top will show when the policy was revised. Important changes may also be described on this website.
14. Contact
